"47-Year-Old Man Found Dead in His Apartment"

Mission Hills: On Monday, September 18, 1:00 p.m., Foothill Area patrol officers responded to a possible murder investigation at the 9900 block of Sepulveda Boulevard in the Mission Hills area of Foothill Division. The apartment manager called the police because she had not seen the victim since September 16, 2000. The preliminary investigation indicated the victim, identified by relatives as Ray Lopez Cota, a 47-year-old, male Hispanic resident of Mission Hills, was found dead inside the scene.

The cause of death and the motive is unknown at this time.

The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking the assistance of the community, asking that witnesses call 818-834-3115 or 818-834-3113 and during off-hours 818-756-8861.

Foothill Area Detectives, under the direction of Captain John Egan, Commanding Officer Foothill Operations Support Division, are handling the investigation.
