"Shooting Claims 16 Year Old Victim"
San Pedro: On Monday, September 18, 2000, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the victim was a passenger in a vehicle with two other people. As the vehicle pulled to the curb across from 1017 South Centre Street, unknown suspect(s) fired numerous rounds at the vehicle. The victim and a second person in the vehicle were both struck by the gunfire. The driver of the vehicle then drove the two victims to San Pedro Peninsula Hospital. The victim failed to respond to medical treatment and was pronounced dead on September 19, 2000 at 1:30 p.m. The second victim is in stable condition.
The deceased victim has been identified as 16 year old Christopher Ritchie.
The motive is unknown. The suspect(s) and murder weapon areoutstanding.
