Homicide Investigated by Rampart Detectives at 3rd Street and Kenmore

"Homicide Investigated by Rampart Detectives at 3rd Street and Kenmore Avenue"

 

Los Angeles: On Saturday, September 15, 2001 at approximately 8:35 P.M., Rampart Patrol Officers responded to a, "Assault with a Deadly Weapon Shots Fired" radio call at 3rd Street and Kenmore Avenue. Upon arrival officers observed one victim, described as a male Hispanic 21 to 23 years of age, who was down in the parking lot. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his upper torso. The Los Angeles Fired Department Paramedics responded and transported the victim to USC Medical Center, where he died as the result of his injury.

The investigation revealed the suspect, described as a male Hispanic, wearing a buttoned up collar, long sleeve shirt, was seen walking northbound on Kenmore Avenue from 3rd Street. Several shots were fired striking the victim on the upper torso. The suspect continued walking northbound on Kenmore Avenue. A second victim, only described as a female, sustained a grazing wound to her knee. She was also transported to USC Medical Center by paramedics . The female victim refused any medical treatment and was released from the hospital.

The motive for the shooting is unknown. The suspect and the weapon used are outstanding.
