The Los Angeles Police Department is hosting an 8-hour seminar on Friday,
September 28, 2001, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Los Angeles Police
Academy.
The "Civil Rights Consent Decree and the Impact on Law
Enforcement" seminar will focus on the Consent Decree Agreement that
was negotiated between the City of Los Angeles and the Department of
Justice. On November 2, 2000, the Los Angeles City Council and the Mayor
signed the Decree.
Throughout the day, command staff officers from the Los Angeles Police
Department will provide an overview of the Consent Decree and further
discuss Implementation of the Consent Decree and Training Evaluation and
Management System II (TEAMS II). In attendance at this seminar are
representatives from more than 40 law enforcement agencies, including Chiefs
of Police and City Managers from Riverside, Irvine, Santa Monica, Honolulu,
Redondo Beach, Ridgecrest, Corona, Rialto Sacramento, Folsom, Delano,
Modesto and many, many more.
