Newton Detectives Investigate Murder on East 47th Street

" Newton Detectives Investigate Murder on East 47th Street"

 

Los Angeles: On Thursday, September 27, 2001 at approximately 9:45 p.m., Jose Anthony Salazar, 29 year old and a resident of Los Angeles, was riding his bicycle on the north side of 47th Street in the 200 block of East 47th Street. He had been involved in a dispute with an unknown Hispanic suspect(s) then went to visit his girlfriend at 245 West 47th Street. As he entered the front gate, an unknown suspect fired several rounds in his direction. Salazar sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses at the scene reported hearing several gunshots and two male suspects fleeing eastbound on 47th Street toward Main Street. The witnesses were unable to supply any further information.

The motive has not been established at this time.
