"Community Sponsoring Police Station Open House"

What:
Hollywood Community Police Station Open House

When:
Monday, September 23, 2002, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Where:
Bais Yackov High School (Parking Lot) Beverly Boulevard and Fuller Avenue, West Los Angeles

Los Angeles: Hollywood Area Community Police Station will have its Open House on Monday, September 24, 2002.

The entire community is cordially invited to meet Hollywood Area Commanding Officer, Captain Michael Downing and his officers and detectives along with Deputy Chief David Kalish, Commanding Officer of West Bureau. The community members will also be able to see SWAT Team, Mounted Units, Bomb Squad, and latest police equipment.

The following will be available to the public during the Open House:

  • Bio-ID 2000 Children Fingerprinting Booth

  • Crime Prevention Literature

  • Home and Business Safety Tips

  • Driving and Vehicle Safety

  • Explorer Program

  • Kosher Style Refreshments

The Open House is sponsored by the Hatzolah of Los Angeles, a volunteer emergency medical rescue team, who also sponsored an Open House for the Los Angeles City Fire Department’s Station 61 in April of 2002.

On August 15, 2002, Members of the Hatzolah were responsible in capturing a sexual assault suspect who has been terrorizing several elderly female victims between July 27, 2002 and August 13, 2002. The members remembered seeing a composite drawing of the suspect and contacted police when they observed a suspicious individual in their neighborhood, which turned out to be the suspect. Rapid police response resulted in apprehending the suspect, a prime example of community working with police.

For further information contact Hollywood Area Community Police Station at 213-485-4302 or the Hatzolah of Los Angeles at 323-931-6453.

This media advisory was prepared by Public Information Officer Jason Lee, Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.
