The Open House is sponsored by the Hatzolah of Los Angeles,
a volunteer emergency medical rescue team, who also sponsored an Open House
for the Los Angeles City Fire Department’s Station 61 in April of 2002.
On August 15, 2002, Members of the Hatzolah were responsible
in capturing a sexual assault suspect who has been terrorizing several
elderly female victims between July 27, 2002 and August 13, 2002. The
members remembered seeing a composite drawing of the suspect and contacted
police when they observed a suspicious individual in their neighborhood,
which turned out to be the suspect. Rapid police response resulted in
apprehending the suspect, a prime example of community working with police.
