Shooting Death"
Los Angeles: Rampart Homicide Detectives are
investigating the shooting death of a male Columbian , approximately
23-years old. The shooting occurred in front of St. Vincents Medical Center
located at 2131 W. 3rd Street.
On Monday, September 23, 2002 at approximately 9:30 a.m.,
Rampart Patrol Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon, shots
fired investigation. Upon arrival, they observed the victim on the ground
suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Los Angeles Fire
Department Paramedics responded and provided emergency medical treatment.
The victim was transported to USC Medical Center where he was pronounced
dead upon arrival.
The investigation revealed the victim was walking eastbound
on 3rd Street From Grandview Avenue when an unknown male suspect
approached from the rear and fired several shots striking the victim. The
suspect fled northbound on Grandview Avenue.
The suspect is described as a possible male Hispanic,
wearing a white t-shirt and dark pants. The weapon and suspect are
outstanding . The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time. The
identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of the next of
kin.
