Detectives Investigate a Homicide

 

Los Angeles: Southwest Area Detectives are investigating the shooing incident that led to the death of 53 year-old Gay Smith.

On Friday, September 19, 2003, at about 11:20 p.m., in the 1500 block of West 23rd Street Jamal Flowers 22 years-old was involved in a dispute with his aunt, Gay Smith and a 31 year-old female relative. During the dispute, Flowers armed himself with a handgun and shot Mrs. Smith in the head. Flowers then shot the surviving female striking her in the lower torso. Flowers turned the handgun and shot himself in the head.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced Mrs. Smith dead at the scene.

The 31 year-old female and Flowers were transported to a local hospital. The female victim was treated and is listed in stable condition. Flower's died from his injuries.
