"Named Suspect Sought for Killing His Domestic Partner"

Los Angeles: On Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at 10:10 p.m., Devonshire Area Officers responded to a Domestic Dispute in the 8800 block of Tobias Avenue in Panorama City.

Upon arrival, family members told the officers that they were concerned for their daughter's well being since no one was answering the door at her apartment. The officers entered the apartment and found the body of Luz Delrosario, a 33-year old female, with what appeared to be numerous stab wounds to her upper body.

The victim lived with her domestic partner, Juan Gonzalez Hernandez who is considered the primary suspect in the murder of victim Delrosario. There has been a history of domestic violence between the victim and suspect. The suspect dropped off their children at a family member’s residence and has not been seen since. The suspect has family ties in the Indio and Palm Desert area.

Earlier on the same day, about 4:00 p.m., California Highway Patrol officers arrested Juan Gonzalez Hernandez for Driving Under the Influence on Interstate 5, at the Asuza exit in the City of Industry. Gonzalez was transported to and booked at Los Angeles Sheriffs Department’s Industry Station. At 11:30 p.m., Gonzalez was released from the jail and cited back to court. Gonzalez’ vehicle was impounded at the time of arrest and remains in police custody.

Gonzalez was last seen wearing a tan plaid shirt, blue jeans, white tennis shoes and a white baseball cap. Gonzalez is described as a male Hispanic, 5’0 tall and weighs 190 pounds.

Anyone with information regarding this homicide or the whereabouts of Gonzalez, is urged to call the Devonshire Homicide Detectives, at (818) 756-8291 during business hours. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk, at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).

In addition, a digital photograph of Gonzalez is available upon request from Media Relations Section. This news release was prepared by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section, (213) 485-3586.
