Hit and Run Driver Sought by Detectives

Los Angeles: A fatal traffic collision occurred on September 10,
2004, at about 8:00 p.m., near 24th Street and San Pedro Street.
The victim, Dwane Collins, 53 years of age and a resident of Los Angeles,
was struck by an unidentified hit and run vehicle.
The vehicle is described as a red Ford Mustang or Honda Prelude. The
victim was struck again by a second vehicle. The driver of the secondary
vehicle stopped and waited for the arrival of paramedics and police. The
driver of the secondary vehicle complied with all legal requirements and
will not face any criminal charges.
Central Traffic Division Detectives are requesting the public's
assistance with the identification of the hit and run driver and/or vehicle.

UPDATE: Councilmember Jan Perry
drafted a resolution offering a reward for $50,000 for the information
leading to the arrest and conviction of the hit and run suspect. The
resolution was approved by the City Council with an effective date of
October 7, 2004.
