News Conference to Request Public Assistance

When:
Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at 4 p.m.

Where:
5144 Colfax Avenue in the North Hollywood area of Los Angeles

Who:
Lieutenant Blankenship; North Hollywood Detectives Commanding Officer, Family and friends of Mr. Sandhu

Los Angeles: On September 15, 2004, at approximately 9:00 p.m., 54 year-old Gurmik Sandhu was inside of his store, Jaby’s Liquor, located at 5144 Colfax Avenue in North Hollywood.

A lone male suspect entered the store armed with a semi-automatic handgun. The suspect robbed Mr. Sandhu and shot him for no apparent reason. Los Angeles City Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene and transported Mr. Sandhu to a local hospital where he died a short time later.

The suspect is described as a male Black in his thirties, 5’ 6" to 5’10" tall, with an average build. He has short afro-style hair, a blotchy, messy-style beard, and a darker complexion. The suspect was wearing dark clothing with a red and white bandana over his mouth.
