Gang Related Shooting Claims Another Life

Los Angeles: 77th Street Homicide is investigating the shooting incident that led to the death of 22-year-old Lanthrick Dejuan Givens.

On Wednesday night, September 7, 2005, at about 10:00 PM, Givens was involved in an argument with a male suspect on the southwest corner of Century Boulevard and Ruthellen Street.  After the argument, the suspect entered a white mid-size car, drove by the victim and shot him multiple times.  Givens was transported to a local hospital, but died from his injuries a short time later.

The motive behind this incident appears to be gang related.

The suspect and weapon remain outstanding.  The suspect was described as a Black man, late 20s, 5' 8" to 5' 10", and weighs 160 to 180 lbs.

Persons with information regarding this matter may contact 77th Street Homicide Detectives at 213-485-1385.  On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).
