Captain David Lindsey, Patrol Commanding Officer Harbor Area

WHY:
On Tuesday, 09/18/07, a bicycling team comprised of British police officers is scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles. From September 11 to 25, the officers are cycling for charity along the 700 miles of Pacific Coast Highway between San Francisco to San Diego. A fundraising event and steak fry is being held to mark the Los Angeles stop of their tour.

The sponsored event is being undertaken to raise substantial funds for two UK registered charities: The Prince's Trust and Care of Police Survivors (COPS).

The Prince's Trust offers practical solutions to help change young lives. It helps people, 14-30 years of age, by offering training, mentoring, and financial assistance to individuals who are struggling in school, are long-term unemployed, or have had brushes with the law.

Care of Police Survivors (COPS) is a charity dedicated to helping the families of police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
