Disabled Woman Injured during Purse Snatch Incident NR12427td

Today Detectives arrested the suspect. She was charged for Grand Theft.

Los Angeles:
Detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify a female suspect who took a 63-year-old woman‘s purse out of her shopping cart.

At around 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 2, 2012, a disabled woman was shopping at the Ralphs’ supermarket located at 1050 N. Western Avenue.  When she turned to retrieve an item off the shelf, a female Hispanic, approximately 20 years of age, took the victim’s purse out of her shopping cart and went to another aisle to get away.

When the victim saw the suspect trying to escape with her purse, she attempted to chase her, at which time she repeatedly fell and injured herself.  Fortunately, the victim’s commotion caused the suspect to drop the purse in an adjacent aisle and leave the location.

Detectives from Harbor Division are asking anyone who may have information about this incident to call LAPD Media Relations at 213-486-5910.  During weekends and off-hours, calls may be directed to a 24-hour, toll free number at 1-877-LAPD24-7 (1-877-527-3247).
