Robbery of Catering Truck Caught on Tape

Los Angeles:   The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying three suspects who committed armed robbery of a catering truck.

On August 13, 2009, at around 2:35 a.m. employees aboard a catering truck parked near Avalon Boulevard and Gage Avenue were preparing to close for the night when they were taken by surprise.  A man armed with a semi-automatic handgun forced his way into the truck and demanded money.  A second suspect then entered and removed property from each employee.  A third suspect forced a customer inside the truck.  Although the victims complied with the suspects’ demands, the suspects kicked one victim in the head as he was lying on the ground.  One suspect used the gun to strike a victim in the head.  None of the victims were seriously injured.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call LAPD Newton Area Robbery Detectives Marsden or Medina at 323-846-6572.  After-hours or on weekends, calls may be directed to a 24-hour, toll-free number at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 or by texting CRIMES (274637) and beginning the message with the letters LAPD.  Tipsters may also submit information on the LAPD website, www.lapdonline.org.  All tips will remain anonymous.
