18 Year Old Woman Killed by Gunfire

Sunday, March 5, 2000

Los Angeles – On Sunday morning, March 5, 2000, at approximately 0030 hours, victim Michaela Candace Arnold, 18 years old was with a group of her friends at 54th Street and Crenshaw Boulevard, Los Angeles. Unknown suspect(s) armed with an unknown type of firearm without warning fired several rounds in the direction of Arnold and her friends. Arnold sustained a gunshot wound to the head and died at the scene. Four of her friends sustained gunshot wounds to their upper and lower torso and were transported to local hospitals where they are listed in stable condition.

Los Angeles Fire Department, Rescue Unit 66 responded and pronounced Arnold dead at the scene.

The motive is unknown.

The suspect and weapon remain outstanding.

The investigation is being conduct by LAPD 77th Street Homicide Detectives Gerald Alford and Charles Tizano. Anyone with information concerning this incident is requested to call 77th Street Homicide at 213-485-1383.
