Police Seeking Publics Help in Solving the Murder of a 20-year-old Man

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department detectives are asking for the public’s help to find the person(s) responsible for the shooting death of Overland Sylvester Campbell Jr.

On Friday, September 5, 2008 at about 7:50 p.m., Campbell was walking on the sidewalk in the 2000 block of West Florence Avenue when a compact, dark, 4-door vehicle pulled up beside him.  The passenger in the vehicle, described only as a male Black, in his late-teens to early twenties fired at Campbell for unknown reasons.  Campbell sustained multiple gunshot wounds and collapsed to the ground.  Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he later died.

The motive for this shooting is unknown at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact South Bureau Homicide Detectives S. Hale or R. Guzman at 213-484-1383.  After hours and on weekends calls may be directed to the 24-hour toll free number, 1-877-LAW-FULL (529-3855).
