LAPD Detectives Investigate a Shooting Death in Wilmington NR11433cj

Los Angeles: The LAPD Harbor Homicide Detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing information about a shooting that lead to the murder of a 20-year-old Wilmington resident.

On September 17, 2011, around 12:50 p.m., LAPD Harbor Area patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the area of L Street and McFarland Street. When they arrived, they found a man on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. LAFD rescue personnel responded and transported the victim to St Mary’s Hospital in Long Beach where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation by homicide detectives revealed that the victim, identified as Miguel Munoz, was walking on L Street between McFarland Street and Hyatt Avenue when an unknown suspect(s) walked up to him and shot him multiple times. It is unknown if the shooting is gang related and the motive for the shooting is unknown.
