Los Angeles:
Los Angeles Police Department respond to call of violent female inside home in Southwest Division.

On November 19, 2011, uniformed patrol officers from the Los Angeles Police Department's Southwest Division responded to a radio call of a violent female with mental issues in the 4500 block of Santa Rosalia Drive.Officers arrived at the location and met with the suspect’s mother who told the officers that her 30 year-old daughter, later identified as Kamisha Davidson, was becoming violent, had threatened to kill family members, and had injured her (mother’s) hand. The officers summoned a Los Angeles Fire Department Rescue Ambulance to treat the mother’s injured hand and proceeded to the apartment to speak with the suspect.

Inside the apartment, the suspect who is about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs approximately 250 pounds, attacked the officers and an officer-involved shooting occurred.  The suspect was struck and was transported to a local hospital where she is reported to be in stable condition. The officers were treated and released for their injuries.

The LAPD Force Investigation Division responded to the incident and will conduct a thorough investigation of the officer-involved shooting and all related crimes. The investigation will ultimately be reviewed by the Chief of Police, the Office of the Inspector General and Board of Police Commissioners for compliance with the Department’s use-of-force policy which states that an officer’s use-of-force actions must be objectively reasonable.
