Burglary Suspect Shot by Homeowner NR12059kr

Los Angeles:  A Los Angeles homeowner shot and critically wounded one of two burglars attempting to break into his home Tuesday night.

On January 31, 2012, at around 9 p.m., an 87-year-old homeowner found two men attempting to break into the rear of his residence in the 5300 block of Rodeo Road.  In fear for his life, the homeowner armed himself with a handgun and fired at the burglars.  One suspect was shot and critically wounded.  The second suspect ran from the location and is still at large.

Detectives are still searching for the second suspect, who is facing felony burglary charges.  The homeowner who was acting in self-defense is not expected to be charged with any crime.
