Brutal Attempt Murder Suspect Sought NR121161kr

Los Angeles:  The Los Angeles Police Department’s Southeast Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect whose images were caught on surveillance video during a brutal shooting in South Los Angeles.

On January 28, 2012, around 9:50 p.m., an armed suspect forced his way into a residence near 99th and Main Streets.  Four young children playing out in the front of the home saw the armed suspect coming and began running towards the house to escape him.  As the children ran from the suspect he fired a handgun in their direction and towards the intended target, a 23-year-old male walking down the stairs.

The suspect went in after the victim and pulled him outside at gun point.  The four traumatized children cowered and hid in a closet.  After dragging the victim to the sidewalk, the suspect shot him multiple times, once in the head.  During the shooting the victim’s mother pleaded with the suspect to stop, but the suspect turned and shot her multiple times as well.

Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. The male victim suffered serious injuries that resulted in permanent brain damage.  He remains in critical but stable condition.  The female victim was admitted to the hospital and listed in stable condition.

The shooter is a male Black, 20 years to 30 years of age, with a light complexion.  He stands about 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs about 150 to 200 pounds.
