Multiple Injuries in L.A. Metro Train Traffic Collision NR15100rh

Los Angeles: Today, a driver in his vehicle was struck by a Metro Train, leaving both the driver and train conductor with injuries.

On March 28, 2015, around 10:55 a.m., a traffic collision occurred in the intersection of Exposition Boulevard and USC Wyatt Way. The 21-year-old driver was travelling eastbound on Exposition Boulevard and negotiated a left turn at USC Wyatt Way when his vehicle, a 2013 Hyundai Sonata, was struck by the train. At the time of the collision the train was travelling eastbound.

The driver and the train operator suffered severe injuries and were both transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Also 10 commuters on the train suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to local hospitals in the area.

A Unified Command was established with the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, University of Southern California Department of Public Safety and Metro. It is the Los Angeles Police Department lead with South Traffic Division having primary investigative responsibility.
