64-Year-Old Woman Killed By Hit And Run Driver NR17064aj

February 27, 2017

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department South Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the suspects involved in a hit and run collision that fatally injured Brenda Joyce Scott.

On February 24, 2017 around 5:55 p.m., Southeast Area officers responded to the 9500 block of Hoover Street for a traffic collision. The investigation revealed a silver Jeep Renegade was traveling westbound on 95th Street at a high rate of speed. The Jeep ran a stop sign on Hoover Street and collided with a silver Mercedes Benz, which was traveling southbound on Hoover Street. The impact of the collision caused the Mercedes to run off the road and collide with a residence located on the corner of 95th Street and Hoover Street.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Brenda Scott dead. She was a resident of Carson California.

The driver and passenger of the Jeep fled the scene on foot without identifying themselves and did not render aid to the victim, as required by law. They were last seen fleeing northbound on Hoover Street.

The suspects were both described as female blacks.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
