Pedestrian Is Struck and Killed By Hit And Run Driver NR17161lp

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles
Police Department South Traffic Division detectives are asking for
the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to
the identification and arrest of the suspect involved in a hit and
run collision that fatally injured a pedestrian.

On May 24, 2017, around 11:35 p.m., Southeast Area officers
responded to Figueroa Street south of 110th Street for a traffic
collision. The investigation revealed that a collision occurred
when the victim, Brandon Maurice Peer, was attempting to cross
Figueroa Street just south of 110th Street. The driver of the
vehicle fled the scene without identifying himself or herself and
did not render aid to the victim, as required by law.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and
transported Mr. Peer to a local area hospital where he later died
of is injuries.

The suspect vehicle is described as a light colored compact
vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles
Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust
Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members
who provide information leading to the offender’s identification,
apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil
compromise. Anyone with information about this collision is asked
