WHAT: Press Conference to announce the arrest of a fatal hit and run suspect

WHEN: Thursday, March 12, 2020 3:00 p.m.

WHO: Los Angeles Police Department Captain, Jon Pinto Los Angeles Police Department Detective, Karen Jones Los Angeles Police Department Detective, Ryan Moreno Los Angeles Police Department Detective, Michael Flannery Family members of Keisha Saravia

WHY: On July 26, 2019, approximately 10:00 p.m., Ms. Keisha Saravia was nine-months-pregnant and she was crossing 117th Street on foot when she was struck by the suspect’s vehicle travelling northbound on Main Street. The driver of the vehicle failed to remain at scene, identify himself, and render aid to Ms. Saravia. Tragically, Ms. Saravia and her unborn child sustained fatal injuries and is survived by her five children. This incident has impacted her immediate as well as extended family and the community at large. After actively investigating this case and following up on leads, South Traffic Division detectives identified a suspect and made an arrest. The purpose of the press conference is to communicate and highlight the importance of the media, community members, and law enforcement in working together to develop leads and solve crimes.
