Suspect(s) Shoot at Three Victims Killing One

Monday, July 12, 1999

Victim1:
Rodney Flenor (Murder), a male Black, DOB: 4/5/60, 39 years old

Victim2:
Gregory Townsend (Attempt Murder), a male Black, DOB: 5/3/67, 32 years old

Victim 3:
Lorenzo Black (Attempt Murder), a male Black, DOB: 6/7/63, 36 years old

On Sunday night, July 11, 1999, at approximately 10:20 p.m., the victims Rodney Flenor, Gregory Townsend, and Lorenzo Black were standing in the driveway at the 200 block of West Imperial Highway, in Los Angeles. Unknown suspect(s) from across the street without warning fired several rounds at Flenor, Townsend and Black. Flenor was struck in the right side of his neck and upper torso and died at scene. Both Townsend and Black sustained multiple gunshot wounds to their legs. The suspects was last seen on foot, fleeing northbound Spring Street. Townsend and Black were transported to a local hospital and are listed in stable condition.

The motive for the shooting is unknown. The suspect(s) and weapon remain outstanding.

South Bureau Homicide Detectives Paul Wright and Ray Jankowski are conducting the investigation. Anyone with information concerning this incident is requested to call South Bureau Homicide at 213-847-1310.
