Hit and Run Driver Sought

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the hit and run driver responsible for the death of 42-year-old Rigoberto Pivaral.

On Sunday, November 9, 2008, at about 6:30 a.m., Pivaral, a Los Angeles resident, was found lying in the street unconscious near the 10600 block of South Hoover Street next to a parked car.  He was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.

Investigators determined that Pivaral was likely walking eastbound on Hoover Street from 107th Street when he was struck by an unknown motorist traveling northbound on Hoover Street.  The motorist failed to stop, render aid, or to identify him or herself.

Anyone with information about this incident or witnesses to the traffic collision are asked to contact South Traffic Division Detective Jimmy Render at 323-290-6067.  After-hours or on weekends, calls may be directed to a 24-hour toll-free number at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (527-3247). Callers may also text “CRIMES” with a cell phone or log on to www.lapdonline.org and click on Web Tips.  When using a cell phone, messages should always begin with “LAPD.” All calls and contacts are anonymous.
