Found Child Tyre NR09406gb

Update
Child Tyre has been reunited with his mother. The case is being handled by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Service (DCFS).

Los Angeles:
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is asking for the public's help in finding family members or a guardian for a child found on the street of Los Angeles.

On August 19, 2009, at around 8:15 a.m., LAPD Southeast Area officers responded to the area of 91st Street and Stanford Avenue regarding a found child.

Officers spoke with the child and conducted an investigation, but the child was unable to provide his last name or an address to officers. He did tell officers his name was Tyre. Tyre is described as a Black male, 4 years old, wearing a blue Spiderman shirt, green pants, black shoes and carrying a bag of clothes.

During the investigation, an unidentified citizen advised officers that they initially found Tyre walking east and west on 91st Street.  Officers drove around the surrounding area with Tyre in an attempt to locate the child's family but they were unable to locate anyone.

Anyone with information that could assist detectives with this case is asked to call LAPD Southeast Juvenile Detective Anna Rivera at 213-972-7853 or 213-972-7813.  Calls may be directed to a 24-hour, toll-free number at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (527-3247).  Callers may also text "Crimes" with a cell phone or log on to www.lapdonline.org and click on Web tips. When using a cell phone, all messages should begin with "LAPD."  Tipsters may remain anonymous.
