"Elderly Suspect Arrested for Murder"

Los Angeles – On Thursday, May 25, 2000 at approximately 10:55 a.m., a victim was stabbed to death in the alley/carport area behind 4015 West Adams Boulevard. The suspect fled from the scene in a tan color Chevrolet Chevette. A Los Angeles Fire Department Fire Department Rescue Ambulance responded to the scene. The examination by paramedics revealed that the victim had already expired from his wounds.

Southwest Area Patrol Officers took the suspect into custody at approximately 3:30 p.m. while driving his vehicle. The suspect will be booked for Murder. The suspect is described as a male African-American, 66 years of age. His name is not available due to the on-going investigation. The victim has been identified as Waymon Henry Sawyers, a male African-American, 62 years of age. The investigation is being conducted by Southwest Area Homicide Detectives Pete Razanskas and Rick Gordon.
