"Man Shot During Argument Outside of His Home"

Los Angeles—On Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Southwest Area Community Police Station police officers received a radio call of shots fired/ambulance emergency at 1629 West 37th Street. Upon arrival at the location, police officers discovered Erich Leon Harris who had been shot with an unknown caliber handgun. Upon further investigation, witnesses stated that Mr. Harris had been standing outside of his home talking with an unidentified male black in his mid-twenties. The two men began to argue when the unknown suspect pulled out a handgun and shot Harris.

Erich Leon Harris died as a result of his gunshot wound injuries. The motive for this homicide is unknown at this time. The suspect and murder weapon remain outstanding at this time.
