The "Real Men Choose Peace Late Night Hoops"is an initiative of Councilman Herb J. Wesson, Jr., and the "Project SAVE"gang intervention program.

This is a positive effort to help keep the peace in various communities in Los Angeles. The league provided over 100 young men and women with positive outlets through recreation during the time when most gang violence occurs, 6:00 p.m. to midnight every Tuesday and Thursday since October of this year.

The final basketball game on December 20 will feature an "All-Star"team representing the best of the league’s players vs. LAPD officers.

Gang intervention programs with teams in the league include the Watts Gang Taskforce, Unity One, Unity Three, Venice 2000, Aztec Rising, Sidewalk University, Baldwin Village, Second Call from St. Andrews Recreation Center, and the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.
