School Official Arrested in Related Child Molest Case

Los Angeles: The Dean of Students at Foshay Learning Center has been arrested for charges related to the arrest of Steven Rooney, the assistant principle of Markham Middle School, in March of 2008.

On Thursday, June 12, 2008, at around 12:30 p.m., detectives from LAPD’s Juvenile Division, Sexually Exploited Children’s Unit, arrested Alan Hubbard, 49-years-old, on a felony warrant of “Accessory After the Fact.” The charges stemmed from an investigation involving Steven Rooney who was arrested for child molestation on March 4, 2008.

During the course of the investigation into the Rooney case, detectives became aware that Hubbard had withheld information and attempted to “Dissuade a Witness” in that case. On June 4, 2008 the case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration at which time the charges were filed against Hubbard.

Hubbard, along with his attorney, surrendered to detectives without incident. He is being held on $120,000 bail.

Anyone with information is asked to call Juvenile Division Detective Moses Castillo at 213-847-5358. After hours and on weekends, call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk at 1-877-LAW-FULL (529-3855).
