OUR SAFETY FACES SERIOUS THREATS

The city budget is stretched to a deficit and federal grants to local law enforcement are shrinking. Though crime in the City of Los Angeles is down to a 60-year low, budget cuts to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) continue to threaten the staffing and resources needed to continue the Department’s success. With 97% of the LAPD’s budget spent on personnel, only 3% is left to purchase new equipment and technology and pay for community outreach, youth programs and specialized training. Your support is needed to enhance the efficiency and modernization of the LAPD that will help keep our communities and families safe.

HOW THE LOS ANGELES POLICE FOUNDATION HELPS THE LAPD
With the help of donors, the Los Angeles Police Foundation is able to provide urgently needed funding for LAPD programs and equipment not included in the city budget. This makes an important contribution to the effectiveness of the LAPD.

Since its founding in 1998, the Los Angeles Police Foundation has awarded over $14 million in grants that have helped the police serve at their highest level in the areas of equipment and technology, training, youth programs and community outreach.

Some recently funded grants include:
