Operations-Valley Bureau - Spanish Language Community Police Academy
 
 
Attention community members!  Operations-Valley Bureau will soon be hosting a Spanish Language Community Police Academy.  We invite all Spanish-speaking members of our community to join us in this great learning experience!  

This is a ten-week course designed to broaden your knowledge on how the Los Angeles Police Department operates.  Topics include:
  • Calls to 911 (how your call to 911 is handled)
  • Communications Tour (a tour of the 911 center, you’ll see the operators live!)
  • Jail Tour (a walk through the Metropolitan Jail in downtown, see how an arrest is processed)
  • Traffic Laws (learn how the police handle traffic collisions and the major traffic violations)
  • Domestic Violence (laws, who gets arrested and why)
  • Use of Force (policies regarding use of force, you’ll have an opportunity to use the Firearms and Tactics       shooting simulator)
These are only a few of the classes.  Classes will be every Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with the last day being the graduation and potluck where you will receive a certificate of completion.  

Interested participants should meet the following requirements:
  • 18 yrs of age or older;
  • No felony convictions;
  • No outstanding warrants;
  • No pending criminal cases; and
  • Live or work in Operations-Valley Bureau area.
