Youth Stabs and Kills his Uncle during a Heated Dispute

Van Nuys - On Sunday, June 4, 2000, at approximately 1:30 a.m., victim Alvaro Anselmo Montenegro, male Hispanic, 36 years-old, and his six-teen year old nephew were involved in an argument. The suspect stabbed Mr. Montenegro in the upper torso with a kitchen knife. Mr. Montenegro was transported by ambulance to an area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

The suspect fled the area and is still at large. His identity is being withheld due to his age.

On Monday, June 5, 2000, at 9:00 a.m., Van Nuys Homicide Detectives Conrad Torres and Jim Rahm, will be holding a press conference at:

Van Nuys Community Police Station
6240 Sylmar Avenue
Van Nuys, Ca. 91401

The family members of Mr. Montenegro will be in attendance to answer questions relating to his death.

Van Nuys Homicide Detectives Conrad Torres and Jim Rahm is responsible for the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident or the current whereabouts of the suspect is requested to contact Van Nuys Homicide Unit, at 818-756-8377, during business hours, or the Van Nuys Watch Commander, at 818-756-8346, after hours or on weekends.
