28-Year-Old Man Arrested for Murder of Granada Hills Woman

Los Angeles: Detectives arrested 28-year-old Michael Watkins for the murder of Terra Yvonne Trice, a resident of Granada Hills.

On Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at about 2:20 p.m., Devonshire patrol officers responded to a radio call at the 17000 block of Ridgeway Drive to meet with the Los Angeles Fire Department.  When officers arrived, the fire department personnel advised them that a homicide had occurred at that location.  Officers found Trice, 45, deceased in her kitchen.

A subsequent radio call came out, regarding an assault investigation, at the 8700 block of Independence Avenue.  Officers responded to this location and met with the suspect, Michael Watkins.  An investigation by detectives uncovered that Watkins was responsible for the death on Ridgeway Drive.  He and the victim were involved in a dating relationship.

Watkins was booked for murder and is currently being held on $1 million bail.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Devonshire Homicide Detectives Mike Fesperman, Humberto Fajardo and John Doerbecker at 818-832-1194.  After-hours and on weekends calls may be directed to the 24-hour, toll-free number, 1-877-LAPD24-7 (527-3247) or texting CRIMES (274637) and beginning the message with LAPD.  Tipsters may also submit information on the LAPD website www.lapdonline.org., and can remain anonymous.
