Man Killed in Car-to-Car Shooting NR10401bb

Los Angeles:  Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) West Valley Division Homicide Detectives are asking the public to provide information that would lead to the arrest of a suspect wanted for killing 33-year-old Luis Delgado.

On August 15, 2010 at about 9:47 p.m., West Valley patrol officers responded to a 9-1-1- call of a shooting near the intersection of Saticoy Street and Gaynor Avenue.  When the officers arrived, they found a male victim, later identified as Luis Delgado of Los Angeles, lying on the sidewalk with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his chest.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported Delgado to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives believe that Delgado was driving his car in the area of Saticoy Street and Gaynor Avenue when he was involved in a verbal exchange with a suspect that was also in a car.  Both the victim and suspect pulled handguns and a car to car shooting ensued, where Delgado was struck in the chest by gunfire.  It is unknown if the suspect was shot.  The suspect is described as a male Hispanic 20-25 years old with a shaved head.  He was last seen driving away from the crime scene westbound on Saticoy Street in a red compact 4-door sedan.  Detectives believe that this shooting was gang related.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call West Valley Division Homicide Detective John Doerbecker at 818-374-7713.  During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7.   Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).  Tipsters may also contact Crimestoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone.  All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.” Tipsters may also go to, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
