Retiring LAPD Captain Partners with his Son for his Final Patrol Shift NA10339SF

Why:        
Captain Steve Zipperman, a 31-year-veteran who joined the LAPD in March of 1979, will be working his final patrol shift with his son Chad.  Police Officer Chad Zipperman was appointed to the LAPD in August, 2008, and is currently assigned to Mission Division’s Safer Cities Initiative Task Force.

As a police officer, Captain Steve Zipperman worked numerous assignments including patrol, special problems unit, vice, narcotics and Metropolitan Division. After being promoted to Sergeant in 1986, he worked a variety of assignments including, patrol operations, vice, administrative staff research, adjutant and Internal Affairs. Captain Zipperman promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 1994 and worked as a patrol watch commander, bureau vice coordinator and adjutant. In April 1996, he promoted to Lieutenant II and was assigned to Metropolitan Division where he held the positions of Officer in Charge of Operations Section, Mounted Platoon, K-9 Platoon and Assistant Officer in Charge of the Special Weapons and Tactics Platoon (SWAT). He promoted to rank of Captain on October 15, 2006, and served as the commanding officer of West Valley Division. In February 2009, Captain Zipperman was assigned as the commanding officer of Southwest Area.
