Updated information:  The investigation has revealed that the suspect’s car is a possible 1992-1997 Ford F150, 250, or 350 truck, or a Bronco Sport Utility Vehicle or SUV.  The color of the truck has not yet been identified.  The truck will be missing the passenger side front head light and turn signal.

Los Angeles:  Valley Traffic Division Detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing information regarding a hit and run traffic collision that occurred early Sunday morning near Whitsett Avenue and Cumpston Street in North Hollywood, critically injuring a man.

On January 15, 2012, at around 5:45 a.m., a 40-year-old man was walking north on Whitsett Avenue on the east shoulder of the roadway just north of Cumpston Street, when he was hit by a car.  The driver failed to stop and assist the injured man, or leave his identifying information, making it a felony crime.

The collision caused massive injuries to the victim.  He was transported by Los Angeles City Fire Department personnel to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

The suspect vehicle likely sustained front end damage that left debris behind that indicated the vehicle was possibly a late model Ford.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact Valley Traffic Division Detective William Bustos at 818-644-8020 or 818-644-8021.  During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (877-527-3247).  Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477). Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone.  All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.”  Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
