Pedestrian Violation Enforcement Operation

What:
Pedestrian Enforcement Operation

When:
March 7, 2008
9:00 a.m.

Where:
Intersection of Ranchito Avenue and Victory Boulevard,
Van Nuys, CA 91401

Who:
Valley Traffic Division Officers

Why:
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division wants to make the public aware of an increase in the frequency of pedestrian related traffic collisions occurring in the San Fernando Valley.

There has been a 100% increase in the number of pedestrians who have been run over and killed in the San Fernando Valley since January 2008, compared to the same time period in 2007.

In the United States, 42,642 people were killed in motor vehicle traffic collisions during the year 2006; 4,784 were pedestrians.

We want to remind motorists and pedestrians to be extra cautious when driving or walking across the streets.
