Valley Traffic Division Sobriety & Drivers License Checkpoint What: LAPD Sobriety Checkpoint When: Saturday, November 25, 2006 9:00 P.M. to 1:30 A.M. Where: Van Nuys Boulevard between Sherman Way & Saticoy Street Who: Valley Traffic Division Why: The purpose of the sobriety checkpoint is to reduce the number of traffic collisions involving intoxicated drivers through enforcement and public awareness. Motorists approaching a checkpoint will see information advising them that a sobriety checkpoint is ahead. Once diverted into a lane, a motorist will be detained a few moments while an officer explains the purpose of the checkpoint. Officers from Valley Traffic Division (VTD) will staff the checkpoint.
