8-year-old boy Abducted and Sexually Assaulted

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police are searching for a man who abducted and sexually assaulted a 8-year-old boy at gunpoint Wednesday, June 13, 2007.

At around 2:00 p.m., the boy's babysitter picked him up from Erwin Street Elementary School in Van Nuys. The boy ran ahead of the babysitter and she lost sight of him near the corner of Atoll Avenue and Victory Boulevard.

According to police, a man in a newer black compact 4-door vehicle grabbed the boy and pulled him into the vehicle. The man drove to a secondary location and sexually assaulted the boy before dropping him off in the 7600 block of Babcock Avenue.

An unidentified woman found the boy running down the street crying. The boy gave the woman his parents phone number who called police.

The suspect was described as a male Hispanic in his 20's with a thin mustache, approximately 5' 7" tall and weighing 150 to 160 pounds.

A Composite drawing of the suspect is available at Media Relations Section 213-485-3586.

Investigators have a few leads and are asking for anyone who may have information on this incident to call Detectives Adolfo Contreras or Sharlene Johnson, Robbery-Homicide Division, Rape Special Section at 213-485-2921. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at 1-877-LAWFULL (529-3855).
