The entertainment industry plays a major role in the economy of Hollywood Area. People from across the United States and all over the world travel to Hollywood to visit the "home of the stars." In addition, there are four major entertainment attractions that generate most of the commerce in the Hollywood Area; Paramount Studios, Mann's Chinese Theater, Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard.


Wilshire Area

Wilshire Area corridor (Miracle Mile) is one of the busiest business districts in the world. Included in this area are the La Brea Tar Pits, the Petersen Automotive Museum, the Museum of Tolerance, the Wiltern Theater, and the Farmers Market. A major commercial mall known as the Beverly Center, CBS studios, Korea Town and several five star hotels are prominent attractions in the Wilshire Area.


Pacific Area

Located in the northwest section of the Pacific Area is Venice Beach, a major Southern California tourist attraction. Weekend crowds often number in the tens of thousands. The Los Angeles International Airport is also located in Pacific Area and is one of the busiest airports in the world. Surrounding the airport are many large hotels and businesses. Pacific Area is home to businesses ranging from small family run retail stores to large manufacturing plants.


West Los Angeles

There are three major concentrations of commercial high-rise office buildings in Century City, Westwood and Brentwood. A major motion picture studio (Twentieth Century Fox), a television network (Fox), and two large commercial shopping malls, Westside Pavilion and the Century City Mall and Marketplace are located in this Area. In addition, there are three smaller pedestrian-oriented shopping districts located within the Area; Westwood Village, Brentwood and Pacific Palisades. In December 1997, the Getty Museum opened in West Los Angeles.

The University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), the Brentwood Veterans Administration Hospital and Cemetery, the Westwood Federal Building and Will Rogers State Park are also located within the Area's boundaries.
