Attempt Murder Suspect at Large

Wednesday, February 9, 2000

"ATTEMPT MURDER SUSPECT AT LARGE"

Los Angeles - On February 9, 2000 at approximately 1:00 a.m., victim - Jose Antonio Lopez and two relatives were inside the " El Castillo " nightclub, located at 3054 West Pico Boulevard. The suspect - a male Hispanic left the bar and armed himself with a semi automatic handgun. The suspect then re-entered the bar and without provocation, confronted the victim. A struggle ensued resulting in the victim being shot once in the upper body.

The suspect exited the bar and fled eastbound Pico in an unknown type sport utility vehicle.

The victim was transported to Cedars Sinai Medical Center by Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics. Victim is listed in critical condition.

The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.
