What:
LAPD ASSEMBLES HUNDREDS OF FAITH LEADERS AT THE "CLERGY LEADERSHIP SUMMIT"

When:
Saturday, June 28, 2008 – 8:00 a.m.

Where:
Los Angeles Police Department – Ahmanson Recruit Training Center
5651 West Manchester Boulevard, Los Angeles

Who:
The Honorable Antonio R. Villaraigosa, Mayor, City of Los Angeles
William J. Bratton, Chief of Police
Assistant Chief Earl C. Paysinger, Director, Office of Operations
Reverend Jeff Carr, Deputy Mayor, Gang Reduction & Youth Development
Clergy and Faith Leaders from throughout South and East Los Angeles

Why:
The problem of gangs and the disorder they breed continues to be one of the most complex challenges facing cities across America. At this Clergy Leadership Summit, ecclesiastic leaders from various faiths and denominations will assemble in one place for the purpose of examining the problem of gangs, be guided towards a greater understanding of this social issue and develop actionable solutions to this deeply rooted problem.

Participants will be provided current information by Department gang experts on the state of gangs in our City, meet with Department command officers to discuss crime trends in their neighborhoods, and receive information on the numerous community-based resources that can assist faith leaders in safeguarding and reclaiming our youth from the scourge of gangs.

For more information concerning the summit, contact Sergeant Joe Kuns, Office of Operations at telephone 213.485.4048.
