Shooting Suspects Sought

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect(s) responsible for the shooting of a man in Hollywood.

On Friday, November 28, 2008 at about 2:20 a.m., several citizens approached an LAPD patrol sergeant assigned to Hollywood Area and told him that someone had been shot and directed him to Western and Virginia Avenues.  When the sergeant got to that location, he saw a victim down, lying in the roadway, suffering from a gunshot wound to his head.

Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was rushed into surgery and is in stable condition.

Detectives discovered that the suspects stopped their car and the passenger got out and argued with the victim before pulling out a gun and shooting the victim.  The suspect got back into the car, which was being driven by a female.  The suspects drove away southbound on Western Avenue.

The victim’s identity is not known at this time and he is described as a Black male, 30 to 35 years of age.

The armed suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his mid-20s.  The driver has been described as a Hispanic female also in her mid-20s.  The suspect vehicle is described as a newer model four-door sedan.

The motive of the shooting is possibly gang-related.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Hollywood Homicide Detectives Vicki Bynum and Susan Brandstetter at 213-972-2910 or 213-972-2902. After-hours and on weekends calls may be directed to the 24-hour toll-free number, 1-877-LAPD-24-7 or by texting CRIMES (274637) and beginning the message with LAPD.  Tipsters may also submit information on the LAPD website, www.lapdonline.org.  Tips may remain anonymous.
