One Killed and One injured While Sitting in Car NR11166cj
Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Pacific Area detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the arrest of a suspect(s) who shot and killed a man, then injured another in West Los Angeles.
On April 16, 2011, at around 12:30 p.m., LAPD Pacific Area patrol officers responded to a shooting call at 96th Street and Airport Boulevard. Once at the scene, they saw an unresponsive man inside of a car suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers also saw an additional man inside the car conscious, but also suffering from a gunshot wound. There was a woman in the car that was not injured. LAFD rescue personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The second victim was also transported and treated for his injuries.
The detectives’ investigation revealed that the victim, 28-year-old Inglewood resident; Brian Pierre Johnson was sitting in a parked car with a family member and a female friend when an unknown suspect(s) approached by car and shot Johnson.Johnson’s relative was also hit during the shooting. The suspects then drove away from the scene. It is unknown if the shooting was gang related.
There is no suspect information at this time and detectives have not determined what prompted the shooting.
