Bicycle Burglars Arrested Bicycles Recovered NR11528cj

Los Angeles: LAPD West Los Angeles detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the owner of a bicycle in their custody that was recovered during a burglary investigation which led to two arrests.

On November 9, 2011 at 4:30 a.m., LAPD officers arrested 36-year-old Marvin Herrera and 23-year-old Julian Herrera for residential burglaries.  The suspects entered an unlocked garage and stole two high end bicycles in the 100 block of South Bentley Ave.  The suspects were arrested shortly after the burglary and the two bicycles were recovered from their cars.

The detectives’ follow-up investigation led to both suspects’ homes where two more high-end bicycles were recovered.  One of the bicycles discovered during a follow up investigation was stolen in a Woodland Hills burglary that occurred over the weekend in LAPD’s Topanga Area.  That bicycle has also been returned to its owner.  Both suspects have been linked to several other burglaries in the West Los Angeles area and the investigation is on-going.  Both suspects were booked and transported to Van Nuys Jail.  They are each being held on $500,000 bail.

Anyone with information on the owner of the below bicycle is asked to call LAPD’s West Los Angeles Burglary Detective Greg Davis at 310-444-1568.  During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (1-877-527-3247).   Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (1-800-222-8477).  Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone.  All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.” Tipsters may also go to, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
