Suspect Wanted for Kidnapping Victim and Car have been Found NR12257rh

Los Angeles:  Los Angeles Police Department Wilshire Division are asking for the public’s help to provide any information that would lead to the arrest of Edgar Gomez who kidnapped a female while she was driving her car.

On June 6, 2012, Culver City Police Department was conducting a follow up on a Robbery Investigation that occurred in Culver City.  Culver City Investigators followed a car to La Brea and Venice Boulevard where two occupants were detained and another ran away.

On June 7, 2012, around 1 p.m., Culver City detectives conducted their surveillance in the 4700 block of Lomita Street when they saw 22-year-old Edgar Gomez entering a car.  Culver City Detectives followed the vehicle to Adams Boulevard and Sycamore Avenue where the car stopped.  Gomez ran away through a pedestrian tunnel under the 10 FWY and two occupants of the car were detained.

The Detectives lost sight of Gomez and a short time later, CHP received reports of a male on the westbound 10 FWY attempting to enter vehicles slowed in heavy traffic.  Witnesses reported a man matching Gomez’ description enter a vehicle driven by a female.  Based on what witnesses’ saw, it appeared the female driver was forced to drive away from the area.

Later in the evening, around 6 p.m., the female driver of the car was found safe and unharmed in the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Vermont Avenue.  Wilshire Gang Detectives met with the victim and conducted a Kidnap Investigation.

Gomez a suspect in the Culver City Robbery was also identified for two violent crimes in the Wilshire Area, a Robbery and Assault With A Deadly Weapon in which he was identified using a knife.

Felony Warrants are in effect for the Wilshire crimes and a Want for the Culver City Robbery. Gomez is considered Armed and Dangerous.  If Gomez is seen, call 911 and do not attempt to detain or make contact.
