West LA Police Officers Implement Community Alert System

Los Angeles: West Los Angeles Police Station, in association with the West Los Angeles Community Police Advisory Board (CPAB) and the Police and Community Together (PACT) have implemented a Community Alert System.

The purpose of the alert system is to notify West Los Angeles business people and residents of vital information concerning criminal activity in their neighborhood and to make West Los Angeles a safer community. The alert system works by notification being made, via E-mail, to area residents and business people who have signed up and volunteered to be a part of this community-safety effort.

In 2002, partnered with the CPAB and PACT, West Los Angeles Area police officers reduced Part 1 crime by 5.3 %, fatal and serious injury traffic collisions by 14.6 %, and increased arrests by 3.2 %. Although the West Los Angeles Area experienced numerous demonstrations, marches and protests, these activities were safely managed without public disorder. Clearly, our community policing partnerships and problem solving efforts have made a difference.

For further information regarding the Community Alert System, contact Officer Alex Rodriguez at 310-575-8431.
